It took the Tennessee Volunteers 99 years to be the number one team in college basketball. It took them less than 30 hours to lose their lose number 1 ranking. The Volunteers lost on the road to in state rival Vanderbilt 72-69. Some might not call it an upset, everyone was picking the Commodores to upset Tennessee at home.
The Vols were a 3 point favorite. As for Vandy, their last nine games against the number one team at Memorial Gym (yeah the one with the weird benches), they are 6-3. Their last win against a number one team came just last year when the Commodores upset the top Florida Gators. Tennessee is really a basketball state!
